Winchester has some amazing pubs just waiting to be discovered. From 17th century coaching inns to back street boozers and friendly locals this city has the lot.
Sample some of Winchester's most historic fare, beer, (or any other tipple that takes your fancy!) in the company of a friendly local. With the city being so easy to navigate by foot why not join a tour and discover Winchester's brewing heritage.
Cheers!
There are 2 tours to choose from. On each tour one 1/2 pint of local beer, or soft drink, is included in the price of the tour.
Tour 1 : Traditional Pubs
Visit 4 traditional pubs popular with both locals and tourists where you can relax and enjoy a drink of your choice. Along the way learn how we have the Romans to thank for inventing the pub. Discover where the Bishop of Winchester, Swithun, performed a miracle and the pub named after it. See which pub Lord Nelson visited while travelling from London to Portsmouth. Discover Winchester's amazing pub history, at one point the city had 132 pubs and 4 breweries! The walk takes us past the magnificent cathedral and Winchester college both of which have links to the cities brewing heritage. Also it wouldn't be a pub tour without at least one ghost story!
Tour 2 : Local Pubs
Visit 4 local pubs in the backstreets off the tourist trail where you can relax and enjoy a drink of our choice. Each pub has its own charm and gives you a feel for where the locals hang out. Pass the location of a pub with a claim to be Winchester's oldest and an old brewery site at the heart of Winchester's rich pub history.
Private and bespoke tours with alternative departure times and number of pubs can be arranged. Please email hello@winchesterpubtours.co.uk or use the contact form below.
